Rebel With A Cause....
by The Rebel in" only the good die young".
or at least they remain eternally young and heroic particularly if they died for you.
the trouble is we can outgrow our hero worship and our opinions of that person can change.. this is what has happened to me with my childhood friend and my hero jesus.

Bosani & Zoos thanks for the replys. My answer to both your posts:-
Maybe we all wish to believe in a world where there are only kind hearted people, and none are stoned for adultery of mind and body. This is why I believe " Hollywood" created the hero who will fight to the death in a " just war" but in peace would never inflict pain on a spider.
However the interesting observation is, what happens when Robin Hood marries Lady Marrion and goes off to live a quite life?
He is forgotten.
So in my opinion, Jesus could never marry " Lady" Magdalene, he would have been forgotten. But he did have to die a violent death for the story true or false to endear 2000 years.
Not only did Jesus die this violent death, he did it for our personal salvation. In my opinion this is why the story has appeal for male and female of different cultures and has transcended time. It is the greatest story ever written.
Personally for me a story with miracles is simply a story.

And I am happy for you GiftsinMen, all rights to individual freedom.
We both live in a real world, a cold and lonely world, so I am happy for you if you get comfort with your real Jesus.
With out trying to sound flippant Mozart may work for some, others Nietzsche, My point being all of these people are dead, but their impact lives on and has transformed people's minds and hearts.

If I were to create " my" Jesus for a movie, the blue eyes of Christ would be piercing, and the image of the man would be white, utterly sexless but very masculine. I would create a Jesus who seems infinity preferable to the " Bronson" " Eastwood" images of masculinity, He would be emotionally rich and sensitive, a hero to women, heroic and gentle with children
My point is every culture has norms to how Jesus should be perceived, and what values define what is " masculine" and " holy".
And this is how I see Jesus, a perception of people's stereotype, promoted by the churches to accumulate money, and control people.

O.K this page of the thread has gone in a " humourless" I mean " comical" direction, However I hope these comments do not subtract from the more relevant posts made on page one. Personally ( outlaw" excluded) I think visual images are often posted for ego and subtract from the GENIUS of the O.Ps subject ( only joking)

Vidiot:- If you were a solely practical person you would say " a complete and utter lunatic" is a viable option ( only joking Viviane or did I mean Vidiot)

Umbertoecho:- this i believe will be a great thread you have started.
Umberto- Echo:- is an Italian semiotica and philosopher, so you chose a great user name. As for your Art:-
For me " Art" has only one rule " does it work"?
Often mine doesn't.
I think your art is great, and I would appreciate you explaining the thoughts behind your pictures. Although if you wish I am happy to comment with my assumptions...

GodZoo:- ." makes my baptism about as significant as my first puff off a cigarette, my first exsperience with alcohol, my first frolic with a girl and my first punch up...."
So wrong !! I bet your first puff on a cigarette was fun, your first experience of alcohol fun ( if you didn't puke up ) As for your first frolic with a girl (This is something I bet you never tire of repeating) So that only leaves your first punch up, and let me put you in my shoes on that one, Well that was quite significant to me, and believe me on that one baptism wins every time.
